This year’s International Women’s Day theme, #BalanceTheScales, is a reminder that equality isn’t just about celebrating progress. It’s about addressing what still stands in the way. For women and girls facing discrimination, gender-based violence, or barriers to justice, the scales are still tipped. That’s the work that remains.
At DPM, we marked the occasion with activities that tried to connect that bigger picture to what we can actually do, as a team and as individuals.
Supporting Communities: The Happy Boxes Project
This year, our team proudly supported The Happy Boxes Project, donating hundreds of essential toiletry items to create care packages for the Yirrkala community in Nhulunbuy, in the far north of the Northern Territory.
Access to basic essentials is one of the most fundamental scales to balance. It was a practical, grounded way to contribute to communities where the gap remains wide.
It’s a simple but powerful example of how our collective action can make a meaningful difference.

Building Financial Confidence: Money Matters Lunch and Learn
Financial empowerment is a key part of equality. Our Money Matters Lunch & Learn session focused on making finance more accessible and approachable for everyone.
Led by some of our female Wealth team, Karli Tsemetzis and Kate Munro, the session provided practical insights into budgeting, understanding personal values, and building financial confidence, regardless of prior experience or financial knowledge.

Celebrating Women Through Literature
To mark the occasion, our Melbourne office lobby featured a curated book giveaway celebrating iconic female authors and storytelling that has shaped generations.
Employees were invited to stop by and select a title, with featured works including Where the Crawdads Sing, Verity by Colleen Hoover and To Kill a Mockingbird, and many more.

Women in Finance – In Conversation with Michelle Obama
This week we were lucky to attend in conversation with Michelle Obama where she shared powerful insights on leadership, adaptability, resilience, authenticity and personal growth. She emphasized on the importance of education, mentorship and staying true to your values in life. It was an uplifting and inspirational experience for all of us which we can apply both professionally and personally! – Aakriti Sharma
Congratulations Aakriti, Colleen and Karen. We’re glad you enjoyed this event.

At DPM, we’re proud to support initiatives that empower, connect, and uplift our people and communities not just on International Women’s Day, but throughout the year. If that sounds like a workplace you’d want to be part of, we’d love to hear from you.
