A very pink morning tea

Breast cancer will unfortunately touch most people’s life in one form or another, either directly or through the experience of family and friends. It’s the most common form of cancer found in females with 1 in 8 women expected to be diagnosed by the age of 85. Breast cancer can affect men too, with 144 Australian men estimated to be diagnosed this year.

Despite this heartbreaking disease claiming the lives of approximately 3,114 Australians each year, there is still much to learn about the causes of breast cancer. This is why campaigns such as the Cancer Council’s Pink Ribbon Appeal are vital, to help reduce the devastating impact that breast cancer has on Australian families.

DPM wanted to get involved and show its support for this worthwhile cause so we decided to host a Pink Ribbon Morning Tea. DPM employees donned their best pink outfits for the day and came together for a special morning tea. With a best dressed contest, a raffle draw and spread of delicious pink goodies including pink finger buns from Bakers Delight (100% of the proceeds donated to the Breast Cancer Network Australia by Bakers Delight), we were able to raise a huge $953 thanks to the generosity of everyone who contributed!

With projections suggesting that by 2020, 47 Australian females will be diagnosed with breast cancer each day, it’s never been more important to get involved. So no matter who you are, where you are, or how you want to help, join the fight for a world without breast cancer.
